Big Brother is KOYOT’s latest single. Inspired by 1984 by George Orwell, the song reflects on its revolutionary and timeless message. Lifting the veil on society and awakening a generation lost in a world increasingly disconnected from spirit and nature. Wade Lavallee, known on stage as Calling Rivers, began writing Big Brother over five years ago, layering ideas slowly over time. The story grew through cold winters and seasons spent planting trees in the northern boreal, giving the track a grounded, lived-in feel that you can hear in every moment. In 2025, Wade Lavallee and Donavin Logan came together to co-write and compose “Big Brother,” drawing further inspiration from 1984 while shaping KOYOT’s evolving sound. The result is a track that feels both timeless and right on time. Something you don’t just hear, but sit with.

Positano is KOYOT’s mythic retelling of The Odyssey, set along the cliffs of Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Written after Donavin traveled to Positano with his wife and fell in love with the colours, warmth, and magic of the town, the song blends real memory with ancient myth. The track paints the spirit of the siren haunting Positano, a place so beautiful it calls you in, pulls at your spirit, and feels almost otherworldly. The imagery moves between shimmering lemon groves, pastel houses stacked along the cliffs, sunlit water, and the mythic energy of Li Galli. The legendary islands where the sirens were said to sing. Musically, with lush guitars, dreamy textures, and emotional vocals create a cinematic world that are mythic, intimate. Positano became KOYOT’s most internationally embraced release, resonating with listeners across the world as both a love letter to the Amalfi Coast and a spiritual, modern re-telling of one of the oldest stories ever told.

Space Cadet takes you on a journey through space before getting to earth where your time begins. What will you make of your time?

Space Cadet / The Count is a cosmic journey years in the making. KOYOT began shaping it in 2021, letting the song unfold slowly, like a photograph developing on film. Using the Telepathic Instruments Orchid synth and the Hologram Chroma Console, the band sculpted the lush textures, spacey ambience, and atmospheric depth that define the track. The release is a two-for-one single: • Space Cadet drifts in on dreamy bass grooves, reverb-soaked guitars, and floating vocals, pulling listeners into an ethereal world. • At 3:05, The Count emerges, shifting the mood into something darker, eerie, and cinematic.

At around 5:00, the track erupts into a soaring guitar solo inspired by David Gilmour and Jimi Hendrix. Bryce bends notes that echo through space, and elevating the journey to another dimension.

"I wrote the song Kamloops back in 2021 after revisiting the old house where I had lived with my former partner in 2018. I had gone there to take a top-rope instructor course. One of the guys in the course happened to live in my old house. It came up in conversation when I mentioned that I used to live in Kamloops. He asked what area, and when I said Upper Sahali, he asked which street. I replied with the address. To his astonishment, he told me that he lived there. We agreed to go climbing after the course was finished. I had a few days before tree-planting season started, so I took him up on it. I asked if I could stop by and see the old house. It felt nostalgic, and there was a bit of sadness that came with it, as life does. While we were climbing, my later partner, who I would be going tree planting with, fell and sprained her ankle. During the drive back, we also hit a rock, which ruptured the oil pan. We ended up stranded on a dirt road south of Kamloops. Eventually, this led to us staying at the house for a few days while the vehicle was repaired and her ankle healed. There were all new people living there, it had become a communal home for outdoor students, but the energy was still the same and felt just as wholesome. I missed it. One day, I sat on the old porch beneath the cherry tree where I once picked cherries many moons ago. Facing the Thompson Valley hills, I played guitar, which I was still learning at the time. I only knew a few chords and some basic fingerpicking, but a small, melancholic melody came through, and the first words followed: “Same place but different at the same time.” In that moment, I knew what the song would be about. It was a beautiful time in my life, but as precious as it was, I felt called back to Saskatchewan. I had been away from my family for a long time, living a beautiful, adventurous life full of love. Still, something inside me felt a little missing, maybe that was my own to work through. So I decided to move back. It marked the end of a chapter, and truly the end of a romantic relationship. I tried to capture all of that in one of my first lyrical pieces." - Wade Lavallee
